Hair-Do-It Like A Celebrity!

Kate Middleton had hairstylists James Pryce and Richard Ward create a classic half-up style to complement her diamond Cartier tiara. Strands of hair were pulled back from each side of her face and tucked into a bun, dubbed the demi-chignon. The rest of her tresses were worn down in long cascading curls.

Groom's Formal Attire

The groom's formal attire traditionally consists of a suit and tie, or a cravat (bow tie). The importance of the groom's attire is just as significant as the brides dress. First and foremost the groom should both match and compliment the bride. Of course the bride and her wedding dress should always be the star of the show. But the fact is that the groom's outfit is essential to help the flow of the entire occasion, and to complete the look and overall feeling.

Groom's formal attire basics
A groom's suit is usually made to measure. This is when the suit is tailored, pinned, sewn and specifically constructed to the individuals' specifications and body shape. A made to measure suit can be made from many different fabrics, cloths and patterns. It can also be decided that the lining of the jacket could be constructed of either matching or contrasting fabrics. This is especially useful if the bride is wearing a different color to the groom's suit and they want to match up a specific color.
Made to measure

You can select the groom's formal attire from a huge range of choices, and from hundreds of the world's finest fabrics. If you go to the right places then full time, energy, care and consideration will be taken in order to ensure that the outfit is perfect. On arrival at the tailors, the groom will usually have a one to one consultation. Your own personal requirements and wishes will be discussed, including how you are to go about achieving them. Usually you will be invited to browse a wide selection of fabrics, styles and silhouettes before you make your decision. When you have decided upon the agreed style the pattern cutter will then get to work on creating the garment of your dreams.

Groom Shirts
They type of shirt that the groom chooses can range from traditional long sleeve, to a less traditional short sleeve. The cuffs on a grooms shirt are usally ‘double cuff’ , thereby requiring cuff link. There are also single and double button options available.

There are several different potential tailored cuts for a groom’s formal shirt. Usually the popular choice is a tuxedo style dress shirt. However you can also choose from options including full cut-away, half cut-away, and button-down collars. The right shirt depends entirely upon the cut and silhouette of the groom’s formal attire.

Shirts can be constructed from many different fabrics, but it is usual to choose more luxurious handles, like one hundred per cent cotton, or silk. The color of the shirt should compliment and contrast to the groom’s suit. It should also link in to the color scheme of the wedding in general – most importantly with the bride’s dress.

Ties, Cravats and Neckwear
The groom's neckwear is usually the main source of color in the entire ensemble. This is the main area where the groom can potentially show the most flare and daring. The tie or cravat is usually constructed of sumptuous materials in complimenting or matching colors to the bride's gown. It is important that the choice of neckwear matches the groom's formal suit and shirt selection.

Handy Tips when Selecting Wedding Shoes

Choosing the right pair of shoes is just as important as choosing your dress. Your choice of wedding shoes can either make or break your wedding outfit. Your shoes are one of the most important aspects of your wedding attire they should complete your outfit and make you look and feel fabulous. Many brides think that if their dress is long and full, it doesn’t matter what shoes they wear. This couldn’t be further from the truth- your shoes will always be seen, especially when walking, dancing, taking off your garter and in photographs
www.redhatgiftprogram.com
♥ Comfort is critical on your big day no one wants to see a bride limping around the dance floor or even worse, dancing barefoot. Some brides buy the cheapest shoes they can find to keep their budget low. Your bridal shoes are one item you should not skimp on. They need to complement your dress and must be elegant and really special: synthetic shoes often look cheap and leather shoes may look too heavy with a bridal gown. Most satin bridal shoes are not as expensive as most brides imagine. Remind yourself that you’re going to be on your feet for many hours and if your feet hurt, you’re bound to be miserable.

♥ Remember that white dresses require white shoes and ivory dresses require ivory shoes. Nothing looks worse than a bride in a beautiful white dress with shiny silver or gold shoes. If you’re battling to find shoes to match your fabric, consider buying dye-able satin bridal shoes and having them expertly dyed to match your dress. The same applies to the retinue, who’ll want shoes to tone in beautifully with their outfits. A bonus is being able to dye your shoes a dark colour after the wedding. Not only will the dye cover up all the dirty marks, which inevitably appear during the day, but you will be able get a lot of use out of them as evening shoes in the future.

♥ You might want to wear your shoes in before your big day to mould them to the shape of your feet, but don’t get them dirty wear them indoors and make sure your feet and very clean before putting them on. If you buy designer wedding shoes, you shouldn’t need to wear them in at all, as they’ll be super-comfy to start with. Apply non-skid sole pads or rough up the soles with sandpaper to avoid slipping and sliding on your wedding day.

♥ And lastly, don’t leave shoe shopping to the last minute. Once you’ve decided on the colour and style of your dress, its safe to purchase your shoes. Even if this is six months before your wedding, at least you’ll know you will be wearing the perfect bridal shoes and looking like a princess.

The History Of Bridal Veil Symbolism

In Ancient Rome, the bride would commonly wear a very full, fire colored veil. At this time it was seen as a symbol of protection from evil spirits. The action of the groom lifting the veil was seen as a sign of taking possession of his wife – both as a possession and a life-long lover.

In Judaism, the veil was seen as a symbol of personal space, modesty, purity and virginity. The lifting of the veil by the groom was seen as a symbol of the bride willing accepting him into her life, and also as a strong and meaningful statement of trust.

Bridal Headpiece and Veil

Bridal headpieces and veils have been worn in wedding ceremonies for centuries, and can be found in different forms in many different cultures and religions.
BRIDAL HEADPIECE

Bridal headpieces come in many different shapes and sizes. They can be made of many different types of metal, gems and faux stones like diamonds or diamante, beaded strings, or even out of natural materials such as flowers or silk imitations.

The definition of a bridal headpiece is simply "a crown, headband or tiara worn around the forehead". Traditionally, the bridal headpiece was made from a thin band of metal, but as technical processes have developed there are many different options available to the bride on her special day.

Examples of popular bridal pieces are increasingly leaning towards the tiara. This is possibly because it is more comfortable to wear, and can be pinned into the hair style for increased comfort and security reference slippage. The history of the tiara has roots in Persia, and was originally based upon the crowns worn by the Kings and the Emperors. At this time the crown, or tiara, was usually constructed from leather which was richly embellished. They also were usually decorated with other natural fibers such as feathers, horns or jewels.

Bridal head pieces are often utilized in conjunction with bridal wedding veils, but can also quite happily be worn on their own. There are also several other similar products available on the market which are loose adaptations, including pins, clips and flowers that can be twined into the brides hair to create a similar, yet slightly more subtle and understated effect.

BRIDAL VEIL

Wearing a bridal veil is in keeping with the traditional "white wedding". The bridal veil is basically a sheer piece of cloth that covers the lady's face on the wedding day. Bridal veils are usually made of luxurious, opaque fabrics such as delicate netting or lace. In Western tradition the bride will traditionally walk down the aisle with the veil over her face, and her groom will then lift it up and back over her head during the process of the marriage ceremony. Bridal veils come in many different styles and can also be embellished with stitched embroidery of bejeweled with precious gems. Veils can also be dyed to specifically match the color of the wedding dress if the bride has chosen to select a color other than white, cream or ivory.

Bridal Jewelry

The jewelry that a bride wears on her wedding day is an essential part of her bridal outfit. Jewelry is supposed to make a woman shine, and bridal jewelry is meant to complement the special glow that a bride wears on her wedding day. It is important that she chooses the right jewelry pieces on that day because there is nothing worse than an overdressed (or underdressed) bride.

If you are a bride who is out there trying to choose the bridal jewelry to wear on your wedding day, you have to remember that your jewelry must go with your bridal gown. You should always think of your bridal jewelry as enhancements to your gown. Never at any point should the jewelry you wear on your wedding day overshadow your dress. The neckline of your wedding dress is one of the things you should look at when you are selecting your bridal jewelry. A closed or high neckline calls for a simple chain and pendant necklace. If you will be wearing a strapless gown or a gown with a low-cut neckline, a necklace that somehow "covers up" your bared skin would do nicely. A choker necklace or a necklace that has a Y-shape would do wonders to complement such a gown.

Is your wedding dress cut low at the back? Maybe a lariat necklace that calls attention to your smooth back will look alluring with your gown. But if the bodice of your gown is elaborately embroidered and beaded, you should forego the necklace and just settle on a great pair of earrings.

As for earrings, what matters here is the shape of your face. A small or rounded face will look well with dangling or chandelier earrings. An oval or elongated face would be better off with stud or clip earrings. However, if the showcase of your bridal jewelry is your necklace, do not let your earrings steal the attention away from it. Match an elaborate necklace with simple earrings, and vice-versa.

Diamonds and pearls are the traditional gemstones that brides wear on their jewelry. Since they are the classic stones, you would not go wrong in choosing to wear those. But do not be afraid to experiment with colors on your bridal jewelry; just make sure that the colored crystals or gemstones you will choose matches the overall color theme of your wedding.

Also, remember that you should not mix metals for your bridal jewelry. If you are wearing white gold, stick with white gold. If you are wearing silver, stick with silver. Try to match your metals with the color of your gown as well. Stark white wedding gowns are better off with white gold, silver or platinum. Wedding gowns in the colors of ivory, beige or ecru will do well with yellow gold.

Most importantly, select bridal jewelry that you are comfortable wearing. Your jewelry should add to your confidence on your wedding day. In addition to that, you may consider adding your bridal jewelry to the jewelry that you wear on a day-to-day basis. Just because you will be storing your bridal gown after your wedding day, it does not mean that your bridal jewelry will go the same route. Your bridal jewelry pieces are meant to be enjoyed by you and by the generations after you.

Spending Less on Wedding Dress

Your wedding dress is one of the most important aspects of your wedding, but you don’t want it to be one of the most costly. A savvy bride can save a lot of money on a dress and still look like a princess.

The first thing you should do is start looking for a dress as soon as you can, like right after you get engaged. It might take awhile to find the perfect dress at a reasonable price. The next thing is to do a lot of research and compare prices. Do not buy the first dress at the first place you found it. Comparison shop and you can probably find the same dress or one very similar cheaper somewhere else. You can even use a discount bridal service if you know the designer and style number of the gown you want. A discount bridal service will search for the cheapest price on the gown you want. You can usually save between 10 and 30% off the retail price of the gown. You can also find out when bridal shops are having trunk shows, a specific designer will have dresses available at discount prices. Be sure to check your area for bridal outlets too.

The best time to shop at bridal stores is between January and March. Last years dresses are in clearance. The stores are trying to get rid of them to make room for the new season’s dresses. Another option is buying a display dress or buying off the rack. These dresses can save you hundreds of dollars off regular retail prices. You can also check to see if a store has any discontinued dresses at low prices.

If you are not concerned about wearing a used dress you could borrow a dress from a friend or family member. Wearing an heirloom dress from your mother or grandmother can add a sentimental touch to your wedding. Check your area for consignment stores and resale shops. Many carry wedding dresses. Some have never been worn, they were purchased and then the wedding might have been called off. Some resale stores get brand new dresses that were discontinued or have slight defects, like a small rip or tear or maybe a small stain somewhere. Some thrift stores also receive new clothing. I have found many wedding dresses at Goodwill with the price tags still attached.

Many online retailers offer great deals on wedding dresses. Amazon and eBay both have wedding dresses. I found the dress of my dreams on eBay for $99.00 brand new. A similar dress I had been pining for was over $1000 in the bridal stores. Shopping online is a great way to compare prices and styles. I still recommend going to stores and trying on dresses though. A style that looks great on a model might not look great on you, or you might not like how it feels. I saw a dress in a bridal magazine that I just adored. When I tried it on, it looked horrible on me and it was very uncomfortable and itchy. Trying on dresses will also give you a feel for what size you will wear. Just because you wear a size 8 in normal clothes does not mean a size 8 wedding dresses will fit. Plus all designers’ sizes vary.

Other options for cheap wedding dresses include shopping for a dress not labeled as a wedding dress. At homecoming and prom times (usually September and October for homecoming and April and May for prom) you can find semi formal to formal dresses in white or ivory that would work great as a wedding dress at half the cost. Hit the clearance racks right after homecoming and prom season and you can find them even cheaper. If you are having a casual wedding any nice dress will do. You can find semi formal dresses at many department stores for under $100. Some are very nice. It all depends on your taste and what you are looking for. If you are having a beach wedding or outdoor summer wedding a thin, filmy white or ivory sundress would be perfect and a very low cost option.

Having a dress made for you is another option if you know someone that can do it or if you have a great seamstress in the family. Just make sure they have experience sewing wedding dresses. Fabric for a wedding dress can be a lot different and harder to sew than regular fabric, especially if you are adding beads or other fancy accessories. You don’t want to spend a fortune on a seamstress or fabric. I have seen a few women try that route and ending up spending more than if they had just bought a dress from a store.

Just remember to start shopping early, do your homework and always comparison shop. Don’t be afraid to ask for deals or discounts either. Try to be flexible and open minded and you can find the dress of your dreams at a price you can afford.

Bridal Lingerie

You do not want to forget about that special wedding night and picking the right bridal lingerie should be one of the bride’s top priorities.

Most women have been dreaming about their wedding day since they were little girls, and for some, their whole lives have been leading up to their wedding night.

Think of the types of things the couple likes to do together and if it seems that the bride would enjoy lacy, baby doll type lingerie, or more sexy, daring bridal lingerie. Since a bride and grooms wedding night is going to be possibly one of the most important nights of their marriage, choosing the right wedding night lingerie isn’t only important for the bride, but for the groom as well.

When choosing the lingerie for the bride, be sure to take the time necessary to pick out the perfect wedding lingerie to add the perfect touches to an amazing wedding night.

Romantic lingerie and nightwear is something to be treasured and worn next to the skin as it will make any woman feel special. Pure silk is probably the fabric of choice but the new silk satin fabrics feel just as nice and are easier to care for.

The bridal lingerie for the wedding night is something very special, but it doesn't mean that you cannot use on later occassions as well. After all, reliving that first night or playing as if it was the first night all over again will add new spice to your love life.

Beautiful Bridal Fabrics

It is usually the case that the bridal wedding gown is the star of the show at any marriage service. Although there are hundreds of different styles and colors available to choose from, the fact remains that there is one universal thing about the bridal wedding gown - it is always made out of sumptuous, luxurious fabric.

Throughout history the importance of fabric has always been recognized, the world over. Fabric is a symbol of status… and the more lavish the better. Usually the more natural the fibers used to create the fabric are, the higher the perceived "worth" of the garment. Think about the contrast between silk and polyester, for example.

Here is a brief overview of some of the more popular types of fabric that are traditionally used to make bridal wedding gowns.

Silk
www.supersilk.com
Silk is one of the oldest luxury fabrics known to man. It has been used by the Chinese since the 27th century BC to make gorgeous textiles for affluent people. Silk has always been prized for its lustrous elegance and statement of high class. It is made from the cocoon of silk worms, and is a natural protein just like human hair. During the Roman Empire silk was literally sold for its worth in gold.

Silk is often the fabric of choice for wedding dresses due to its high properties in areas such as elegance, comfort, versatility and wear-ability.

Satin
www.alientravelguide.com
The best quality satin is actually made from silk, but satin can also be made with a blend of other man made fabrics such as polyester, rayon and nylon. The higher the silk content, the higher quality the individual piece of cloth. Satin comes in many different thicknesses, so therefore it can differ in both look and feel depending upon the handle of the fabric, and also the way in which the bridal gown is tailored and pattern cut.

In general, satin is a very high gloss, shiny fabric. It became very popular in Italy in the 12th Century, and was often the fabric of choice for European Royalty in the 14th Century. To this day Duchess satin is the most popular choice for wedding dresses. This is because it is shiny on one side only, thick and relatively heavy in weight.

Velvet
www.asia.ru
Velvet has been considered to be a luxury fabric for at least 4000 years. Very early examples of velvet can be traced back to Egypt, and was worn by those such as royalty and the upper classes. Velvet is a very warm fabric so was particularly popular in Northern Europe in the winter time in days gone by.

When velvet is constructed it requires many more threads and process steps than other fabrics do. Velvet is best when it is made out of silk thread, but in modern times it can also be produced with less expensive threads, including materials such as cotton, velour, velveteen and corduroy.

Because of the way that velvet is constructed it is particularly receptive to dyes. This means that it can sustain and maintain high levels of vibrant color without fading. It is also very possible to create special effects by twisting the velvet during the dying process.

Choosing a Bridal Gown

Today, the bridal dress is more of an expression of the bride's sense of style rather than any other underlying meanings. Most brides still choose to wear white, but many opt to wear other shades that are close to white, such as eggshell, beige and ecru. There are even brides who would rather wear a different color of bridal dress for their wedding.

www.buyweddingdressonline.com
There are no set rules on what brides ought to wear on their wedding. What is important is that the dress is something they can move comfortably in and is something that flatters the shape of the body. Also, the bridal dress has to be in theme with the wedding itself. A sweeping train would be out of place in a beach wedding, while a short cocktail dress would be unsuitable for a formal church wedding.

The Elegance of White Bridal Gown

White has always been associated with purity and innocence, virtues that brides are supposed to possess. While brides in the olden days did wear white, it was a matter of preference rather than custom. Brides wore the best dress they own or could afford to buy on their wedding day, regardless of the color. The only colors shunned by brides are black, the color of mourning; and red, the color of the prostitute or fallen woman.

The custom of brides wearing white was established by Queen Victoria of Great Britain, when she wore a rich white gown on her wedding to Prince Albert in 1840. It then became the fashion among brides of the Victorian era, and the fashion persisted until our modern age.
